Now let's have a look at bar activities and just how much they affect individuals's understanding of a bar's level of excellence.
Without a doubt the most popular pub activity, quiz nights were chosen by 42% of people who took our survey. Close behind was seeing sports at 37% and enjoying live music at 34%. Meanwhile, playing swimming pool or darts ranks highly (26%), and more than one in 10 Brits love a slot machine (11%). Interestingly, though, 24% of all participants stated they don't take part in any activities!
Taking a look at age varieties, millennials seem to love enjoying sports, with 52% citing this as a favourite bar pull. Incidentally, only 26% of women go to the bar for sport, compared to 48% of males. What might surprise you is that bingo, surely a true classic, is enjoyed by practically 1 in 4 Gen-Z goers, but only 6% of those aged 65+ want to play.
When it comes to slot machine, the highest usage (19%) goes to Gen-X, while men are more inclined than females to enjoy this traditional pub activity (13% vs 9%).
Brits and fruit machines
When it comes to fruit makers, they're a staple of British clubs, using casual home entertainment, the opportunity to win enough for a couple of rounds of beverages, and lots of sentimental charm. Their presence often includes a social component to a club and they're an essential for many clients who delight in a little light gaming whilst enjoying a drink.
